Audition Application
2022 AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Students will need to record the following technique areas and put together a one professional video to be emailed or post an “Unlisted” video on Youtube. Please include your name, phone number, and home address so that we can contact you with the results of the audition. Videos AND audition applications should be sent via email to jerricakanderson@yahoo.com. We will not accept any more video auditions after July 1st, 2022. Please incorporate ALL of the following in your VIDEO:

Stretches (flexibility): legs in second on floor stretching to right and left sides

Splits ON RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE

Battements: step brush kick both right and left sides moving across the floor

Turns: Pirouttes (turned out): doubles, triples, etc on right and left sides

Jazz turns (turned in): doubles, triples, etc on right and left sides
-
Chaine' & Pique’ turns: right and left
-
Fouettes or À la secondes (turns in second)
-
Jetés (leaps): right, left, center, firebirds Calypsos (turning jeté with back leg in attitude)

Jazz Combination (choreo not provided)

Lyrical Combination (choreo not provided)

Hip Hop Combination (choreo not provided)

Any other special talent that you have gymnastics, tap, switch leaps, kips, etc.

You may also include any competition pieces that you would like to submit. Solos are preferred. If you choose to include a group dance please specify which dancer you are.
Please also include a quick introduction (name, where you trained, years of training, etc) and why you want to be a part of the Furman Dance Team.
Dancers will be judged on execution, control, and technique. A panel of judges will review the videos and you will be contacted with the 1st round results no later than one week after the first round audition deadline. If you make it to the second round of auditions, we will email you the material to learn and submit. Dancers making the team will be REQUIRED to move in a week prior to Freshmen Orientation on DATE TBD for camp.
